Kauai, Hawaii - May 2007
In early May, we visited to the enchanting island
of Kauai. The island is a feast for the senses and it doesn't take long to shake off the tension of the mainland. We visited
several galleries. We lucked out and had a chance to swim with a sea turtle. I can hardly wait to go back. I would love
to kayak the NaPali coast someday.

My favorite place on the island is Hanalei. The light here is amazing - the flora get a silvery shimmer in the afternoon
light. It is the place that inspired Peter, Paul and Mary to write Puff the Magic Dragon. To me, it is classic Hawaii, with
cute little bungalows and great galleries. The people here are very laid back - surfers, hippies and people that are very
much "in the present".

Princeville seems to be the most developed and
upscale part of the island. One of the best spots on the island to watch sunsets is the Princeville Hotel.

I was inspired to create a piece that had turtles in it...
